Cafe Molo - La Pêche

Super hygge spot on a frigid January weekend: coffee shop with a boho vibe in a cozy old house. Roaring wood fire at lunch and breakfast, bright sunroom with dramatic views of frozen Gatineau river and hills. Perfect coffee (boyfriend loved Teddy bear latte art) Lunch and breakfast sandwiches very decent and decently-priced, service quite quick despite the server being alone.

The people are great here in this homey spot. Their coffee is great and their food is pretty good! Try the smoke salmon for a treat.

Eravamo di passaggio a Wakefield e ci siamo fermati per caso in questo locale... La prima impressione è stata molto buona, visto il bellissimo patio che consente di mangiare all'aperto con vista sul fiume Gatineau... Però gli aspettivi positivi finiscono qui. Appena entrati abbiamo fatto la triste scoperta... il "menù" prevedeva solo 2 alternative: zuppa di patate dolci accompagnata da sandwich al formaggio, oppure zuppa di patate dolci accompagnata da sandwich al formaggio e prosciutto (!!)... Ovviamente scegliamo subito l'alternativa che prevedeva anche il prosciutto, con la fame da lupi che avevamo (turisti in giro tutto il giorno a piedi, non so se mi spiego!!), e ordiniamo anche 2 te' freddi... Risultato: i tè freddi sono risultati essere dei tè normali (quindi caldi) a cui è stata aggiunta una montagna di ghiaccio (e nemmeno un po' di zucchero), la zuppa si è rivelata essere dolcissima (va bene le patate dolci, ma i sapori andrebbero equilibrati, no?) e il sandwich, se così vogliamo chiamarlo, era un mezzo toast poco farcito... Insomma, ci siamo alzati più affamati di quanto fossimo all'arrivo!!! Sconsigliato per chi ha un sano appetito e per chi vuole un mino di scelta nel menù !

We found the menu to be kind of a generic high end restaurant typical menu, but what we had was done perfectly. In a small town like Wakefield I'm not sure how well a restaurant would do introducing different ideas, so the menu is logical. Service was great and staff including cooks were very friendly.

Is it a gift shop? Says it has one, but couldn't really find anything except clothes and they didn't look new. Seating rather uncomfortable. Not much to recommend it except great homemade peanut butter cookies.
