Taste Of Jamaica - Columbia

I decided to try this place on a whim. I ordered the curry chicken with rice and beans, along with a side of cabbage.

We also took a piece of rum cake to go, and it tasted homemade—absolutely delightful. For those who don’t drink on Sundays, a slice of that cake would certainly suffice! I should mention that the service was actually quite good; they even went out of their way to make me fresh coffee, which wasn’t on the menu. The woman who was cooking and taking orders (who I assume is the owner) is straightforward and not overly friendly, which some might interpret as rude, but I didn’t perceive it that way at all. If I find myself in South Carolina again, I will definitely return to this place.

The food was excellent. It seemed like they were short-staffed today, which made the service slower than normal. The jerk chicken was fantastic, and the mac and cheese was just as good. Even though they use disposable forks and plates, it didn't affect the quality of the food. However, the canned drinks were a bit disappointing.

I 'm Jamaican, I 'm in town. Looking for a ok spot cause c 'mon we 're in Columbia... but anyways, came in, the big guy at the door was nice. The other guy was rude as **** at the counter I 'm watching a football game . But long story short the food suck! It was 4 of us and I tried everyone else plate because I thought I was tripping but, no. Not even the Mac cheese was good, like ok? Anyways this was an American chef copying the Jamaican culture. It was not even close to The taste of Jamaica more like Ja-Mercian Cafe Lounge . But I 'm glad I support his business but I 'm never going back. Good luck on your cafe lounge

I love the jerk chicken, peas and rice,with the collard greens. I stop here for lunch and the staff is very friendly. The portions are satisfying. The food always makes me feel better when I 've had a tough day. Comfort food !!
