Mattachioni - Toronto

This place is very close to my work, and I heard good things about this place from my colleague, so I decided to give it a try a couple weeks ago.

Ordered the Margherita pizza, came burnt on the bottom, beyond normal burningGot the lasagna for myself, cold in the middle.

The pizza was excellent, but I have not had the chance to try the sourdough crust yet. The olives on the Napoli pizza were delicious, and there were just the right amount of anchovies to add a salty flavor.

Small restaurant that specializes in pizza and salads. The food was excellent. The place was clearly short staffed with only 1 server. We had trouble getting her attention at all to order anything. The food was perfect though.

Welcome to a no-nonsense amazing Italian neighbourhood restaurant.Located in the Junction area of Toronto, it's worth the drive, walking (if you live nearby), or even take the Annette bus to it. I wouldn't be surprised if the bus driver knows the place.There are no reservations. You just walk in and make yourself comfy. However, you may have to wait for a table during their busy times - lunch and dinner. We went at around 6 p.m. on a Tuesday evening. We walked in to a selection of free tables. But, 20 to 30 minutes later and the place was humming with hungry patrons!The menu is selective. There are enough choices to either confuse you (so many delicious items) or help you make a quick choice if you're a regular. Highly recommend going online and checking out their menu before heading out. It's okay. They won't rush you.Their pizzas are baked in a wood-fired oven... The most amazing tasting crust ever (see attached picture). It is made with sourdough that most gluten allergic people can actually enjoy. My wife has a gluten allergy. She has no problems eating their pizza. They do have your usual alcoholic and non beverage list. It will definitely suit your needs.Dessert is limited. Make sure to ask what's on for that day. Their espressos are also delicious!Bottom line: We enjoyed going and will continue to do so. We're quite certain that you will also!
