We mentioned to them and they said they had not been able to reverse it on TripAdvisor. This is a lovely little restaurant full of character in an interesting stone building. The menu is a mix of tapas type dishes of which there was an interesting variety and meat and fish which you cook yourself on the hot stone in the middle of the table. We had starters of the Tuna tartare which was delicious and then had the Meat pinwheel which was a variety of different beef, duck and pork which also came with salad and fries. Although we wouldn’t want to cook our dinner this way every time we go out, it made a nice change and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our meal for 4 which was 2 courses with bread, an aperitif each and 1 1/2 litres of the house wine came to €79 which we thought was amazing value for the quality and quantity of food. We will definitely return next time we visit Tomar.
We chose Baraalto for a special meal out in Tomar as we have been several times and loved it. The host is super friendly and welcoming and always makes us feel valued. As vegetarians, eating out can be difficult in Tomar but at Baraalto they have a couple of choices. I had the gorgeous brie starter, served on bread and topped with pumpkin seeds and a honey drizzle. My partner loved the seitan dish. It is great to find such interesting and delicious vegetarian dishes. Our friends chose non-vegetarian dishes and were equally delighted. I'd thoroughly recommend Baraalto to vegetarians and meat-eaters.
We met some friends for a meal here what a fabulous evening . The food , wine and Sangria were delicious ant the attention to detail and service was fabulous. We will definitely be returning.
My companion and I only wanted to indulge in tapas and wine and ended up staying there for dinner. We started with an incredible wine from the Douro region “Piano Reserva Tinto” (their last bottle we were told) to accompany our first selections of Salmon Gravlax on thin sesame crackers elegantly served on a black clay platter and a very succulent scampi in orange sauce that summoned additional bread for soaking. After meeting Alfredo (the owner) we were persuaded to order the “Rumpsteak” despite our hesitation to do so, solely based on its english affiliation to lesser desirable cuts of meat. The meat turned out to be extremely tender, tasty, cooked perfectly as ordered and accompanied with house-made garlic/herb French fries and a fresh green salad, all greatly paired by our red wine. In fact, we enjoyed the wine so much we decided to go back there a few days later to buy another bottle Alfredos generously offered to provide us from his next delivery. Thank you Alfredo for a very enjoyable dinner and your great recommendation!
We came across this lovely restaurant by chance and noticed the glowing reviews on tripadvisor. Well deserved. The service was very friendly. The food topped it all. The owner recommended the Alcatra meat which was excellent and beautifully presented, as were the starter and desert. All reasonably priced. A perfect evening, many thanks.
