The French Baker - Taytay

I would go to The French Baker mainly to buy their baked goods especially towards the store's closing time, when their prices go down by half (it is to ensure that they sell freshly baked breads the next day). However, I rarely dine at any of their branches because they're a little too expensive to me. The first and last time I dined at The French Baker was long, loooong ago, at the South Supermarket branch in Santa Rosa, Laguna. Nilibre pa ako nun hahaha but I loved their pork steak ala poivre (if I remember the name right). However, last week I decided to give my family a special dinner treat at a nearer branch in SM City Taytay. Wala namang special occasion he he. I opted the Family Platter meal for ₱1,150, which is said to be good for 4 people: ????7 pieces fried chicken with gravy with potato wedges ????A platter of Spaghetti bolognese with three slices of bread (another option is the Carbonara, but I don't eat carbonara) ????4 potato salads ????A platter of rice ????One pitcher of iced tea and one pitcher of orange water ????Two slices of cake I loved the fried chicken, it was cooked all the way through and the breading made it extra-crispy. Good to be partnered with either rice or potato salad. The spaghetti tasted like our own home-cooked spaghetti (we don't usually cook sweet spaghetti like the others do), only a little bland. I don't usually eat potato salad (kanin ako all the way) but this one was good. I also ate the lettuce. ???? The cakes served to us were not the chocolate cakes which were featured on the poster outside the store. Instead, they gave us slices of a light cake drizzled with caramel. They were good! I wish though they were four slices since the meal was supposed to be for 4 people, right? ???? The price was worth it naman, it was a big meal indeed. If you'd like your group dinners a bit more upscale (to my standards, anyway lol, cheap thrills lang talaga ako ???? ), try the Family Platter at any The French Baker branch. MIL and Lola's go to dinner place especially when they are craving for Soup in a Bread Bowl. We had dinner here a few weeks ago. I ordered the Pork Chop Au Poivre which was delicious. The pork chops were soft and juicy. The sauce was seasoned just right and the vegetables were crunchy. Hubby and MIL enjoyed their Hamburger Steak and Grilled Chicken & Mango Salsa. Nice food presentation too. The servers were absent minded and made us feel like they didn't want to be bothered. I wouldn't mind coming back since the food was delicious but I do hope they improve their service. *visited last April 2017

Food was great. Price is okay. Good deal for their group meal. However, we don't like the cake. It's not moist. I love the chicken and tomato pasta soup.
