Ploughman's Restaurant And Bar - Taupo

I walked in expecting a cheesy, British-style pub and average food (for no reason, I just had my doubts). What I received was expertly prepared food which with rich flavours and that fit the theme perfectly. Service was exceptional. The gravy with the venison pie was superb and the pie itself had a perfect, crispy top pastry and succulent meat in thick sauce within. The pork belly was one of the crispiest I've eaten, so decadent. And the schnitzel is one of the best in the area. The pub itself is tastefully decorated in the British style which makes for a very cosy experience in winter with real (not gas) fireplace too. I can imagine the beer garden being great for shmmer too.

Well what can I say, wow, what an awesome place, we love theme bars and this one is awesome, what a beautiful place to go for a meal, even just a drink would be great. We had the seafood chowder and others had the venison pie and the beef schnitzel all very good and beautiful meals everyone was so happy with there meals. The bar is well stocked and place has such a homely feel. Complements to the staff and chef and owners, best meal in Taupo we have had.

This place has great large portions! The service is a bit slow to be honest, one of the only negatives about the place. We ate here twice and were stuffed and loved it each time. Be prepared to drop about $80nz for two people with a drink or dessert though! Photos as of feb 2020.

Just had an amazing dinner. 2x Adults, 3x children. We had the salt and pepper calamari, kids cheese pizza and fries, chicken and bacon salad, fish and chips with 2 fried eggs, lamb shank and pork ribs. All of it was just incredible. Fantastic friendly service, attentive to every need, fast with preparing and delivering our orders. Loved the atmosphere. Loved everything about it. Well worth it and we will definitely be returning next time in Tsupo. Thank you all for making such a magic meal and evening for us. See you again.
