Eating was wonderful as always! gary has made a great job to orchestrate the dinner. the steak and lobster was of the highest quality. the escargot was probably the best I ever had not cooked over seasoned and perfectly.
What a classic! al’s is a great place for the special occasion, especially if they like the old school approach. Table side service for the Caesar salad, net and bananen foster. it is not perfect, and it should be really for the price, but it is terrible good. I suppose the post covid world has met them with personal so that the number of server is just enough to take care of the things, but not as it was in the past when someone was there before they were looking for someone to find someone, but it is enough. the server itself busser, server, headkeeper (and husband of the owner) were all spectacular! friendly, knowledgeable and correspondingly chatting. they even brought out their emmy award to show us. we really enjoyed eating, but I have some comments: (take them not as negative, but as critique. Overall we will be back) the caesar salat presentation 5 stars. the salate itself was slightly covered 4 stars. our steaks perfect prime bark strip steaks. my wife was cooked to a perfect med rare, my wife was maybe 1 minute too long. the table side heat and presentation was 5 stars. I had cooked it perfectly with lobster and Oscar sauce that could have been warmer. 4 stars on tempo, but 5 for taste. the bananen foster created table site was perfect. the best thing I've had since brennan in new orleans. Five stars. in a better economic climate I am sure that al’s will be back on perfection in the whole environment. it is great now, but not perfect for the price. definitely everyone should try.
We planned a maid trip to st. louis months ago and we had researched steakhouses to celebrate all our november birthday days. Al’s was our choice and it was really an adventure restaurant. we showed up early and were a little concerned because it was hard to find and was definitiw in a strange situation. we had been lucky to be able to sit 5 minutes after our arrival, but after we had heard that they limit the number of tables, we know that if we come back, we would stay on the reservation with our time. there is not really a bar to sit and enjoy a drink, so they do not expect that. we were told about the history of the restaurant and that was really neat and helped us to understand the ambiente of the place. there is no physical menu. they bring the cuts when meat and so choose them. one of us had the lobster bisque and was phenomenal. steaks were incredible and we really enjoyed our meal. no prices on the menu, but it wasn't different than beautiful steakhouse prices! we would come back! gary and james were so helpful and certainly enjoyed their service. they have a nice documentation that they google about the restaurant. note: it was hard to get a bit, as it is away from the beaten, so they expect a bit to wait.
Great food. Exceptional service. Memorable experience.
