Cihai Su Xin Cí Hǎi Sù Xīn

Located in the Ci'en Temple district, this small, home-style restaurant offers an extensive menu at affordable prices. Despite our limited Chinese language skills, we found it easy to choose dishes from the photographs. Being a Buddhist vegetarian restaurant, you can't go wrong with any choice. The eggplant dish, while a bit on the oily side, was still flavorful. The highlight of our meal was the spicy, crispy tofu with crunchy chili peppers. The portions were generous, giving us almost two meals for the price of one. Although we arrived late for lunch by local standards, the food was prepared quickly and presented nicely. We were also served a pot of tea that reminded us of genmai cha, with a hint of sweetness. Overall, a satisfying dining experience.
