Chang'an - San Gabriel

I waited 45 minutes before placing my order, and then it took another hour for my dessert to arrive. My main dish took 30 minutes to come out. I thought dining alone might make the experience quicker, but a meal that should have taken 45 minutes ended up taking over 2 hours. The food itself was decent, and the atmosphere was nice.

It was good overall, but unfortunately, we had to return our food because it was served so cold.

Our waitress then neglected to check on our order. We were there for Dine LA, expecting our meal to be served in courses. Instead, the chicken wings (which were quite good), tofu skin, and vegetable spears all arrived at the same time. We also ordered a short rib skewer and three filet mignon skewers. Both were well-seasoned and tasty, although I preferred the short rib. A few minutes later, three of our entrees—Wagyu and asparagus—arrived while we had hardly started on our appetizers, and our table was a bit cramped for all the dishes. I wouldn’t recommend the Wagyu and asparagus as the presentation and taste were unimpressive; it was just small cubes of meat with asparagus. While I waited for the rice to arrive, I sampled some of the schnapps, which was lukewarm. After several minutes without the rice, we asked a server about it. We waited a bit longer, and still no rice, so I asked the busser for assistance and he finally brought it over. I had previously asked for chili paste, but the waitress had forgotten it, so I had to remind her again. We also didn’t receive the short ribs until 40-45 minutes after the first three entrees were served. I had asked two different staff members to check on them, and they both said they would be out soon. Ironically, other tables that were seated after us received their short ribs at the same time as I did. To be fair, the short ribs were impressive and presented beautifully, but overall, it wasn’t worth the $40 per person for Dine LA.

Our party tried various items from the dinela lunch menu and enjoyed everything we tried. elevators garlauch chicken wings were delicious and interchangeable oyster and skalopp were nice dishes, but def for 2 person determined main courses / we enjoyed the pork belly, sweet and acid garnels, filet mignon the white and brown rice took both time to come with our dish, and as it finally, it tasted slightly sub-done what was disappointing. I didn't eat a rice because he came after my appetizer and head and spit. ambience lively environment with a crowd, it almost echos. the decor was beautiful and invites a conversation. overall it was a positive experience besides the organisation.

The service was friendly and attentive! They came by to refill our water without asking and were helpful with our questions about the menu. They have a great Happy Hour menu! The garlic chicken wings and the steamed scallops were delicious! Nice atmosphere for family dinner, girls night out, date or special occasions. Free parking available in the underground parking structure. From the elevator, take it to the third floor, where the restaurant is located.
