Blue Canoe Bakery & Cafe - Salmon Arm

Called to request a custom birthday and encountered the most unprofessional person who had no interest in custom service or promoting their business. After numerous attempts to place a simple order (exactly as per their website) I had to politely end the conversation as I could no longer stand the employees huffing and apparent frustration with taking an order for a birthday cake. If this type of service continues, the Blue Canoe will up the creek.

Heard great reviews from family about this cafe. Didn't realize that there are new owners. They were out of many items we tried ordering and were quite smug about it. Weren't impressed with any of our meals. Staff were less than friendly. Won't be visiting again or recommending.

A number of months ago the Blue Canoe changed ownership and I've noticed a decline both in the quality of the menu offerings and in the level of service.It is unfortunate that what I once enjoyed about the Blue Canoe is no longer experienced. The staff the last few visits has been surly and not very service oriented. The bakery shelves are just about bare. The wait time to get food takes far too long.I wanted to give the Blue Canoe a few more chances but after recent experiences, it's safe to say that I'll be going elsewhere in town.

We stopped here for breakfast on our holiday instead of going to the regular fast food places. The coffee was strong and delicious and the baking looked great, although we didn't actually try it. the baking was fresh and new items were being brought out as we were ordering. We ordered french toast with a blueberry sauce and the breakfast sandwich. The blueberries were plentiful and tasty and the french toast was made from bread pudding so was quite dense and tasty. The breakfast sandwich was also delicious, with your choice of bread type and it had a delicious herb garlic mayo. The prices are very reasonable and the service is like a cafe where you order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. We would definitely go there again if in Salmon Arm.

The lunch we had was delicious, however the behind the counter staff was so rude it was almost funny, flipping her hair and raising eyebrows, sighing and not bothering to serve until she was ready. It is in a good location and is quite pleasant in there, what a shame the staff isn't better as I would go back again for the food but not the atmosphere.
