Starting Gate - Nottingham

All the food we ordered was absolutely delicious, hot and there were no issues with anything missing or wrong. The staff were absolutely lovely too. We will definitely be returning!

My partner and I, both of Portuguese nationality, were traveling in a motorhome and decided to stop at the Starting Gate for lunch. We were pleased with the delicious typical English food, the friendly staff, and the convenient park for overnight stay with our motorhome. Excellent service, food was amazing I had the sirloin steak and it’s one of the best steaks I have had it cut like butter, my partner had the mixed grill and loved it also. Thank you We will be back

Booked a table for 5 at 5 o clock got there at 4.45 table ready brilliant but then 3 off use wanted xl mix grill but was not available 1 wanted mac Cheese not available latte came out like cup of milk no taste of coffee then after an hour waiting we was told our food was being cooked now and then ordered Cheesecake that came out warm because thay defrost it in microwave so not very good at all especially for a bank holiday

We have been here twice now in our 7m motorhome and the value for money is superb. The food is your traditional fayre but we enjoyed our small mixed grills one night and the two for £11.99 meal deal which in our case was small fish, chips and mushy peas a hunters chicken, chips and garden peas. The latter suited our appetites but bigger eaters may want a starter or pudding. In terms of motor caravans etc, we found parking at the furthest end away from the road best for sleeping. There are no facilities outside pub hours so you need to be self sufficient. It is a requirement that you have food and a drink to offset free parking. This is a great stopover en route elsewhere or to catch the bus into Nottingham.
