The Southern Steak & Oyster - Nashville

So I?ll start by saying it could be that they are dealing with the effects of Covid and being understaffed BUT we had a group of 12 and reservations. We were sat right away. Took a minute to get our drink order in. Then once we got the food order in we waited over 1.5hr! We had a mix up with oyster orders and the waiter was a little flippant over something that was not our fault. They had someone bringing out food (seemed like his first day) dressed in regular street clotheswalking around with plates looking confused. Food was good, at least mine was. We had been given high reviews in form of a referral when this place was recommended. Nice restaurant very appealing to the eye but we were disappointed with howlong it took to get our food. We were at the restaurant for over 2 hrs when all was said and done.

The restaurant lost my reservation but was able to quickly seat my party of five. I had "the belle" and while the flight was cooked perfectly and delicious. The potatoes and onion straws were cold. Very disappointed when you spend $38 on an entree. Service was friendly and attentive.

Here with my wife for Adele concert & weekend in Nash-Vegas. The Southern IS The Lunch place to go. Food, Service & Atmosphere is Great. The Highway & Southern Burger will get you through the day for sure. Ready to take on Broadway now!

In Nashville for the week and I stopped in at the southern for some appetizers, oysters, and cocktails. Although this place came highly recommended it was really an average experience. We came too early for the dinner menu. My favorite was the barbecue shrimp.

Figured I would give this place a try since it is walking distance from my work. However it was lunch and they had a very limited menu. It's a steak and oyster place but there was not even any steak available for lunch. Mind you it was a late lunch around 3pm. I understand why having a limited menu but the items could be a little more diverse and if you specialize in steak there should be at least one steak option. My boyfriend is a picky eater and only ordered fries, my daughter a wedge salad, and myself a bowl of gumbo. They were not that busy as there may have been 5 working tables. It took a half hour to get out entrees still. As far as the food you really cannot mess up a salad and fries. The gumbo on the other hand tasted like it was a salty brown gravy with pieces of sausage and shrimp. Service was good so that's a plus. I might try one more time for dinner...
