There was a long queue, service was slow, and the food was not as good as I was hoping for. You'd think the seafood would be unbeatable in this fishing town. The location is what makes this floating food truck so memorable. The kids loved seeing all the barnacles, crabs, and starfish clinging to the pier posts. The sound and sights of the gulls and other birds, as well as boats, complete the picture. The downside was sitting next to the kitchen door. The cooking grill area was a mess and didn't look like a kitchen of someone disciplined -- or who cared. The kitchen crew and back area didn't look very professional. I preferred to look away.
Lovely location to sit and eat freshly cooked fish and chips. Good size portion and all cooked fresh to order. Waiting times were fine and we enjoyed our dinner. Great as all cutlery and dishes compostable too!
We moved to Nanaimo just over a year ago and always wanted to go for Fish & Chips to Troller's Fish and Chips on the waterfront. Today was nice and sunny and we had time so Today was the day. We arrived at Trollers and the smell was delicious so we ordered Two Fish and Chips and sat down next to the main dock. We waited for a while and noticed there were more people waiting so we chatted for a while enjoying the atmosphere then 43 minutes later our Fish and Chips arrived. The fish looked great but it was mostly very thick hard tasteless batter and the fish inside was dry, flaky and also tasteless. The fries were greasy and overcooked with hardly any potato inside and looked like frozen commercial fries. The meal came with a little coleslaw which surprisingly was also dry and tasteless. We gave the meal and cleanliness a 3 out of 10 and although we enjoyed the location we will never repeat the experience again. Totally disappointed.
Casual dockside spot for fish & chips at Nanaimo's harbour front. Recommended by several local residents we spoke with, and it did not disappoint!
I didn't find this restaurant to be very clean. I also considered the cleaning habits of the staff to lack a little bit. Food was OK but nothing compared to hype of this place. I dont recommend this place. It just didn't impress me very much. Also poor value for your money. Tourist trap.
