Contribuiți la feedbackI’ve been visiting the barn for afternoon tea for years and it never disappoints. Delicious sandwiches and treats. I decided to celebrate my birthday at the barn this year and the service was super. Excellent from start to end. Thank you for making my special day with my friends extraordinary.
Went with friends for Sunday lunch, having been previously. We had some communication problems with our waiter, particularly in relation to dietary issues, but duly placed our orders. The starters were excellent but thereafter the meals went downhill. The beef was ordered medium rare/pink but arrived well done. Two of the three meals were rejected and replaced, but the beef was cut too thin and was very fatty. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The apple pie was very average, the lemon tart just okay and the ice cream sundae was just ice cream, no coulis or anything else. Nice setting and ambiance but food was a let down.
I will definitely return to this restaurant. The food, wine, and service were all excellent. However, it is disappointing that the hotel management does not acknowledge this great facility. Advertising the "Spring Menu" in the ladies' toilets is not the best choice. Also, being closed for lunch three days a week is not ideal. Come on, Barn Hotel management!
Despite not being highly regarded by the local community, my family and I have been loyal patrons of this restaurant for years and plan to continue visiting in the future. The food, wine, and service are all top-notch - what more could you ask for? Thank you, perhaps the restaurant should consider more advertising to attract more customers.
The lounge was doing a roaring trade in cream teas. I've been before and its excellent. The restaurant had 1 person dinning and 2 tables, other than ours, set up for bookings. 3 course set lunch at £32.95 offering all the roasts. We all had the lamb which was excellent, the vegetables were well cooked. The roast potatoes were rock hard, my fork could bearly break the skin, and my first attempt made it jump of the plate. The Yorkshire Pudding were cooked to death, perhaps days before. We all had the ice cream sundae. The ice cream had not been stored properly and had ice crystals in it, and the brownie was stale, presumably from a left over cream tea. Hawtrey's used to be really good, but looks like it has suffered from the times, with customers walking with their feet. Won't be coming back.
