Mediterranean Gourmet - HANALEI

I loved the view of the waves from the windows overlooking the ocean. The food had a delicious Mediterranean influence, which was no surprise given the location. The service was top-notch. This restaurant is a great discovery in the secluded Hanalei area.

I had heard great things about this restaurant and was eager to try it out. However, I found the food to be overpriced and just average. The onion soup was particularly disappointing, as it lacked any flavor. The grilled fish was tasty, but the rice and bok choy were bland. Although the restaurant had a nice view, the dirty windows made it difficult to enjoy. Overall, I was not impressed and would not dine here again.

A bit of drive with more traffic than expected so remotely. Several one lane bridges with some drivers not following protocol.

Our family of 4 adults and 2 children ages 10 and 7 enjoyed the meal. MG has a large menu of typical Mediterranean cuisine, such as house-made hummus and dolmas, plus a variety of dishes associated with local produce and not associated with Mediterranean food. We shared the local produce and the meat and fish dishes. It was a much bigger and more modern structure than expected. There was a local musician who drew members of a wedding to dance and sing. Though it was considerably beyond Hanalei to the northeast, the drive was worth the reward of the delicious meal and senic beauty.

The staff is very nice, The location is great, but the food is average. This is still a place to visit. The waterfront location is great. The menu is interesting and varied.
