Ebisu is always a great food experience...Sake is fab too ! Used to only open for Lunch but now is open for Dinner on Friday and Saturday nights ...Yay

If you like Japanese your love this little restaurant only open for lunch unfortunately wish they would open for dinner the food is amazing and cheap considering the quality great Sarki too!

Ebisu is worth a visit, not only for the small and excellent menu. The décor is quirky, with lots of sumie paintings and a mixture of furnishings. Also for sale you'll find ceramics, both cheap and expensive, Japanese incense, and of curse a well-stocked take-away fridge of sushi, salads and more. No steps at entrance.

Ebisu, labour of love created by two people from two different parts of the world, Dean his Japanese wife, in my own village of Elwood, today is my Day of Beauty today i choose to walk in spaces of beauty. Ebisu is one of these places. For a decade I have watched this shop grow from a seed to a restaurant where I had my first sit down lunch. Today. My Day of Beauty. I had an exquisite lunch, elegantly served by the owner herself, cooked by a genuine Japanese chef who is a perfectionist..a rarity these days I walked out with two takeaways, freshly made beautifully packaged value for money, indeed when the bill came I thought why bother cooking when one can have lunch and dinner for $24! i walked away feeling that I have dined in a restaurant in Kyoto, in a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn where one is always made to be feel at home, in a tranquil understated kind of manner. Most visitors to Melbourne pay a visit to St Kilda and usually miss Elwood, just another 5 or 10 minutes away from Acland S by bus/car. It is only a bike ride away from St Kilda Esplanade. Elwood village is a 3 minute walk away from Elwood beach itself. If you want to get away from the tourists itinerants of St Kilda, Elwood village is where you should go for some local delights and Ebisu is definitely one of these. Not only is Ebisu a restaurant but it is a also a place to sample the beauties of Japan in the form of kimonos, art pieces, etc. For me, on my Day of Beauty, Ebisu is a microcosm of the Japan I knew and loved in 1978.

This restaurant is cozy and clean. I have had two fantastic lunches here and enjoyed some delicious beers. It was definitely worth the 20-minute drive. The host was courteous and kind.
