Shannigan's Gastro Pub - Ennis

Nice atmosphere, no wait time, generous portions of tasty food at a reasonable price. My dish puzzled me though I ordered Lamb Tagine however it was more like a beef Hungarian Goulash thankfully I like beef too

We decided to have an early dinner on a Friday and chose to try out this restaurant. It was not too busy, with mostly student staff who were very friendly. The food was excellent, surpassing some of the 5-star establishments I have dined at. We ordered fish and chips for one person and grilled hake for the other two, both dishes came with a delicious selection of vegetables. The only downside was that the salad served with the fish and chips had no dressing. I had a latte and my husband had a macchiato, both of which were lovely and strong. The entire meal was superb and the staff were very pleasant. We will definitely be returning.

I should have checked my prior reviews other recent onces before heading here for lunch !... Arrived about 2pm 'ish so main lunch rush (if there was one ! was well over and just 6 or 7 in the bar/restaurant.. Shown to a table promptly and given menus.. but after 20 minutes wait we asked one of the staff to take our order but he apparently had to get the book and would be back... and alas; he never returned. Another 10 minutes and eventually found another waitress who took our order. Turkey Ham plus Chicken Curry they were both woeful !... Definite re heats; Chicken was hard as a rock and tasteless (even with smothering of curry sauce on it .. At €18.50 for a curry and € 19.50 for a Turkey Ham at lunchtime; one expects something a lot better and that 's edible... The only thing they were prompt with was the bill. Definitely not on the return list (which is a pity as we only live 10 minutes away.. ..

Visited with family this week for a quick lunch of soup and sandwich. When we arrived at 12:20 we were not allowed in as they don’t open the bar/dining area until 12:30 When we were allowed in we viewed the menu and were left waiting to order despite it not being busy! We had to call someone over to our table so that we could place our order. The order took quite some time to come, 3 sandwiches served with fries and 3 cups of soup. The sandwiches arrived with cold fries and no soup. Fries were returned, soup still did not arrive. No apology. We had to call a staff member and ask for ketchup, vinegar Mayo as none was offered or on the table. Eventually the rehashed fries arrived all in one big bowl, they were in individual bowls initially. The soup then finally arrived after the sandwiches were nearly finished! It all seemed quite chaotic and disorganised for some strange reason For a restaurant that wasn’t even busy they managed to mess up a very simple order with a total and utter lack of care and customer service. We were served by 3 different people each time we asked for condiments etc which we shouldn’t have to ask for in the first place)! This bar needs to take ownership and train staff to look after the customer needs and not be so nonchalant when serving customers. We would have spent more and stayed longer had the service and customer care been of a higher standard but to be honest I have had better in McDonalds! Not once we’re we asked if everything was ok and did we need anything else, very very poor service and won’t be back again! Dromoland Inn you need to step up to the needs of your clients We don’t visit you to get stressed out and receive poor shabby service and cold food!

Visited Shannigans gastropub today. Ordered chicken curry and vegetarian curry. The vegetarian curry consisted of diced potatoes, onion and 1 piece of pepper, the rice wasn’t basmati but wild! I ate one mouthful only it tasted sour and salty inedible. Service poor waited ages for order to be taken and no one checked to see if food was ok. Prices extortionate €7.20 for a rock shandy! Complained about food but still had to pay for it. WILL NOT BE BACK.
