Contribuiți la feedbackOn a Saturday, with some friends we were looking for a very nice Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh, but it was closed for refurbishment, so we quickly looked on the maps for the closest Japanese restaurant and we found Sakura. It was empty because it mostly...delivers and sells for take away. Also, I have to say, the interiors were not so attractive...really basic and a bit messy. But bravely we went in and sit to order. Well, I have eaten one of the best sushi ever! I tried a salmon set and a dish with four pieces of tofu in a miso soup, along together with some Japanese green tea...delicious!! A couple of friends of mine are vegan and they found a wide range of dishes to try! We were all satisfied despite the first impression...a real surprise!
If you want a Japanese delivery with the best classic dishes in Edinburgh, I would say this is the best. I have checked the other Japanese delivery and the menu is not as extensive as this one. I ordered quite a huge selection of food...to have a proper taste of their food. The fish was fresh I have to say. The sushi and the temaki rice are great as well but they tend to put too much rice so the whole thing becomes like a big clump with too much rice. I know the bigger portion the bigger the value but with Japanese sushi and temaki it needs to be moderately supplied to ensure it does not destroy the fresh fish flavour. The fried chicken chicken karaage seems to be a bit on a dry side but they supplied plenty of the chicken for the portion. The agedashi tofu has a harder tofu than I thought but good broth. The soft shell crab tempura was almost not worth it with just 2 or 3 pieces of crab so best to avoid. The only highlight I thought was definitely the Aubergine with Miso Sauce. The aubergine was properly roasted to provide intense flavour and the thick miso sauce really complemented the aubergine. The dishes were clearly prepared with a thought of delivery quick and roughly prepared to mimic Japanese food. I have to say there is definitely room for improvement and they really need to improve on the quality of the food.
The food is very delicious, my favourite japanese restaurant in Edinburgh, my personal recommendation would be the red dragon roll. The staff have awesome service and attitude, it makes me feel so happy to eat here
It is a beautiful Japanese place with a beautiful atmosphere. the taste is authentic and a welcome supplement to the environment.
Very good sushi restaurant to take away. that's worth it. there are tables to sit, but probably more to eat quickly.
