Palace Tavern, East Moline, Illinois

This establishment just opened under new management and extensive remodeling. It's a nice place and it's still getting it's feet on the floor. My order (2/4/2222) was a take out, so I made a beeline for the bar, typical pick up point. The three young ladies behind the bar were engrossed in something to do with the computer. I was ignored by them, until I asked a passing server where to go for take out pick up. Appears I was correct and the three young ladies behind the bar were ignoring me. Hmmm.... I got my order, French Onion Burger and a grilled tenderloin and off I went. The French Onion Burger, while a great concept, wasn't well delivered. The 1/3 lbs patty was cooked as expected (medium but appeared to be a preformed (frozen patty. The idea of adding the au jus was fantastic. My opinion, more au jus, less onions. over 2/3 of the 2 oz container was onions. The jury is still out if the French onion au jus was homemade or canned. Adding salt and pepper didn't bolster the taste much. The grilled tenderloin was, sadly, even more unremarkable than the burger. It might be put on a grill, but no one let it sear and develop flavor. The texture was rubbery a complaint that I've made about many grilled tenderloins in the QCA. To be blunt, it was tasteless. The homemade potato chips were very good, very minimal salt. Both of us certainly appreciated that. The handcut french fries were good, but the steam in the take out box might have adversely affected the crispness of the product. While I painted a less than pleasant picture, I can only related my experience. This place is still learning and with the affects of COVID have certainly impacted their business. The food quality was good, but nothing I would recommend to anyone as outstanding. My eating companion's comment was If I wanted a preformed patty, I could have gone to Hardee's I hope the owners/management can change my perception.

The meatloaf with homemade mashed potatoes was fabulous. The pork tenderloin tremendous With home fries and our service was extremely fast and efficient.

Wonderful cocktails, amazing burgers and pizzas, and a excellent staff eager to make your dining experience memorable.

For those of you looking for reviews for the Palace Tavern, please read the reviews on this page carefully. It has been discovered that the previous reviews on TripAdvisor apply to the closed OLD Palace Tavern; not the new Palace Tavern. The new Palace Tavern has been completely refurbished and is under new ownership. The food is outstanding, the wait staff friendly, and the environment warm and inviting.
