Contribuiți la feedbackA relatively small restaurant just off the city center, with warm and cosy atmosphere. The service is friendly and prompt. Ordered the Porterhouse stake, 30 Oz, but since i skipped lunch and just had an intense workout, i was ready for it : The meat was well seasoned and cooked perfectly, extremely good both in quality and taste. The red wine jus (reduction was fantastic, so was the pepper sauce. The ruby slaw was really good too. Créme brulée was well carmelized and has blueberries, great end to. Good dinner. Overall, an outstanding spot for a great dinner.
They lure you in with a free watermelon bellini upon checking in on Yelp. Not a bad way to differentiate themselves. Worked for me at least. As for the food, it was a little underwhelming and sloppily executed. Let 's start with the tomato fondue. The sourdough bread was extremely soggy. The tomato fondue is just a not very complicated tasting tomato sauce, definitely contributing to the bread 's soggy state. The guacamole was fresh, the poached eggs were cooked correctly, and the breakfast potatoes were nicely seasoned and tasty. This dish, and the gambas benedict (stay tuned), had an appealing presentation. The prawns in the gambas benedict were sweet and cooked to perfection. The entire dish, however, was cold. Even the English muffin was cold, soft, and not at all toasted a real brunch shame. The bed of spinach was cold. The eggs and the hollandaise sauce were fine. So....3 stars for good prices, a free and yummy bellini, attentive and friendly service, and edible (albeit not great) food. I don 't think I 'll come back, as there are so many fantastic brunch places, and this one appears to be a real tourist trap.
Firstly let's talk about the good. The service charming, friendly, attentive without being overbearing just want you want in a bistro, good wine at good prices... Now the bad: sadly (and I'm aware I've only been here once and I've only had the €36 ribeye so feel free to shoot me down) they can't cook a steak. There I said it. But god damn what does it take to get a good steak in Dublin? I went to Marco Get Over Yourself White (yes yes I know I was hungry and delirious. I can't be held responsible for my actions) and f**k me it was beyond ****. Pretty sure they fried an old bike seat in butter and tried to pass it off as a steak and don't get me started on the wine. Anyway anyway I digress. I'm laying down 3 stars because I'm not writing this place off. Just the steak and just the ribeye at that. Please learn how to cook a steak guys. Don't mess about with a list of sauces. No serious future gout suffering steak eater gives two s**ts about steak sauces!! It's about the meat! It's about the seasoning and it's about the meat. It's not that hard.
Absolutely recommend the Norwegian eggs benny, the salmon had so much flavor and the eggs were cooked to perfection. We managed to snag a table without a reservation for brunch on a Sunday, but it got very busy while we enjoyed our meals. I would recommend calling ahead/reserving a table!
This place does a damn fine brunch. Only problem is that everyone knows that now and it can be hard to get a table here. I've been here quite a few times now, just for brunch. I intend to get back here at some point to try out their dinner menu, as if it was as good as the brunch this place could potentially become one of my favourite restaurants. I usually go for the breakfast, with a side of hollandaise (cos whoever managed to turn butter into thick sauce deserves god status). Their breakfast is definitely one of the best in the city. I have tried most of the dishes on the bunch menu by now (except the waffles which have been sold out when I have tried to order them). Most things on the menu are delcious and amazing, except for their chicken wings, which are average at best. Problem is I love chicken wings, and it always makes me sad to see a place that does otherwise good food get chicken wings wrong. Hopefully one day this place will step up to the chicken wing plate and start doing some damn tasty buffalo wings. Writing this review I am already getting cravings for another one of their breakfasts now.
