Railroad Bbq - Columbia

The building dining room walls are great. Lots of really interesting stuff just looking around. The restaurant was clean, and service was friendly up to a point. My wife and I arrived at 5:30. By 5:40, food had arrived. The brisket was good. I had sides of coleslaw and collard greens. Greens were good. Coleslaw was perfect. The server brought and explained 2 kinds of sauce made on-site. My wife had ribs, which were tough, but tasty. She had okay Mac and cheese and great green beans. Neither of us had time to try the cornbread, which looked good. We didn’t have time because at 5:55, the server started lurking around the table. They close at 6, and he wanted us to go. This was a good meal, not great, but solid. And the bill was $50 plus. Not expensive, but not cheap either. And we really left halfway through. Had they told us the dining room vacated in 30 minutes, we would have come back earlier the next day. I left so quickly, I forgot my phone on the table. One of the staff brought it out to me in the parking lot. So, at best, a mixed experience.

Have been on the hunt for a go to BBQ spot since I moved from Memphis. Finally visited this place and was not disappointed! Walking in, I got a hint of the smoke and had a feeling it would be the real deal. Inside is decorated nicely. Was greeted by very friendly staff and took care of getting my online order and thanked me. Food was packaged nicely in sturdy containers. Smoked wings were perfection great smoked flavor on nice size wings, and the dry rub was very flavorful and had just the right amount on them Will be getting these every visit. The pork had a few pieces of bark which I like. I prefer chopped but this was some of the best pork I’ve had in Columbia. Spicy collards were flavorful and beans were beans. 12/10 recommend stopping in here!Parking: Street parking available with parking meters, but free on nights and weekends. The BEST bbq in SC. I think I've said this before about other places but this one, hands down. Great smoky flavor on the meat and delicious homemade sauce. The atmosphere in the restaurant is super cool too.

Only if I could give more stars. It should be a crime to sell BBQ this good! I am definitely coming back. Finger licking GOOD! Also, Wayne was such a good help with explaining everything with it being my first time here.

Superb BBQ at this black owned establishment. Three sauce options for pork, pulled chicken or brisket.The vegan greens!!!Only open until two so grab your lunch buddy and treat yourselves to great southern cooking and very friendly service!!Vegetarian options: Vegan greens are well seasoned!
