Monkey Park - Chesterfield

This cafe is always serving freshly made treats with very friendly service. The home made scones, cakes and biscuits are a real treat in this lovely little cafe.

After hearing about this restaurant, I decided to give it a try. The menu board advertised roasted butternut squash soup, so I ordered that while my friend asked about the quiche. Unfortunately, the staff was unsure of the flavor as it was made by someone who wasn't working that day. The soup turned out to be a watery, grainy off-white color and tasted very bland. My friend complained and we were informed that it was actually potato and celery soup, explaining the poor texture. I exchanged the soup for a Cornish pasty, which was served cold without any garnish, which I found odd. The prices at the restaurant seemed high for a community cafe, and the lack of proper labeling and service left me unimpressed. The restroom was located in a cold bike shed with a loose door handle, and the lack of privacy in the seating area was concerning. Overall, I don't think I will be returning to this restaurant anytime soon.

Lovely staff welcoming, cosy atmosphere. The bread, cakes coffee are to die for. On top of that, all the profits go back to the local community.

I visited on a Saturday afternoon for lunch I had quiche, coffee and a cake my friend had a sandwich and a coffee. The cafe is a lovely area with crayons, paper, playdough etc for children to play with. This is a community cafe social enterprise not private for profit cafe. The cakes are made on a Thursday in the cafe by members of the local community and the place depends upon volunteers. The food was very reasonably priced, far cheaper than a more usual cafe and I enjoyed the food. I will definitely be popping in again for a quick lunch I don't have to prepare. In addition there are lots of groups and free activities, especially for children. This place is a community resource and on that basis it's very much a five star facility.

Having heard different people saying it was good..was very dissapointed had scone not very good, .Hav.nt been since so don't know if it's better.
