I stayed at the International Hotel and spa for three nights. In the elevator there was a sign for free appetizers in the Lounge with the purchase of a drink and showed photos of some of the appetizers. The posters and the hotel website refer to it as the 4th Avenue Lounge so I'm not sure if there has been a name change. I went down at 4:30pm which was when the free appetizers were available. There are several levels to the lounge. I chose to sit near the bar where there were a number of TVs. There were a couple of private areas for small groups. The washrooms were outside the bar on the same level as the Global Restaurant. There was a staircase with direct access to that area. I ordered a drink. The female server/bartender was alone in the Lounge. She brought me drink fairly quick. A few more people came in. I asked the server about the free appetizers as I seen a small station with a domed catering tray. She indicated she did not think they were doing appetizers that day. I sat and watched the hockey and finished my drink. No appetizers were brought out while I was there. Very misleading from the posters in the elevator.
Tried this restaurant as it was handy to my hotel. Cozy atmosphere and good service. The menu is a little Iimited and pricey for lunch. Food was first rate.
This small cosy bar is a nice spot for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat after a day out and about on a chilly Calgary day. It can't be seen easily from street as it's down some stairs. Service was good, beers were cold and food was tasty. Great to see New Zealand SB on the menu, sparkling wine list could be expanded and sold by the glass not just bottle. Hosts quite a few locals who make you feel welcome. Enjoyable!
We booked here because they were the only place close to work that took a last minute reservation for 12. Good customer service from the waitress even though there were a few mess ups. It's ok, it was lunch hour and she was the only waitress I saw so I imagine she was busy. I had the beef dip and it was good but best in Calgary? That's a tall order. It was very filling and came out reasonably quick.
