Loud, slow service. My selection was only fair even though it was a special, the others in my group said their selections were good to very good. Given the price they all should have been excellent Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
First time in Blowing Rock and was told to go to Twigs but be there by 5:00. We were there at exactly 5:00 and was asked if we had reservations. Nobody told us we needed reservations! We told her no and she said that the WHOLE dining room was booked! There was no one in there or waiting! She suggested we try in the bar so we did. They have about 8 tables and they were all taken. Some people were even pushing tables together and waiting for the rest of their party to arrive. We left and we will never go back nor will we recommend it!
Twigs is different than any other restaurant. The food is exceptionally delicious. The servers have honest, professional, authentic character, and fun. We even enjoyed talking with a regular attender. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Too long, didn't read: Unfriendly, judgmental staff. Kitchen refuses to honor reasonable customer preferences. Food was so bad and raw it was borderline disgusting. It is very rare that I give a negative review please see my post history to know that I usually enjoy giving local businesses glowing feedback. Unfortunately, our experience at Twigs wasn't great. Our waiter had an attitude of superiority and was not knowledgeable about the menu. I didn't let this influence my rating because I have been a waitress myself and I know this job all too well. After our orders were placed, our waiter returned to tell us that the kitchen was out of three of our entrees. Okay, no big deal, we can pick something else. My husband selected the duck and asked for it to be cooked thoroughly. Our waiter told us that the chef REFUSED (word for word) to prepare the duck any more than medium. When it came out, it looked raw, but my husband is not picky and will eat just about anything. He said it had the consistency of a rubber tire and was utterly gross. He usually really enjoys duck. My mother's and my steaks also came out so **** it was nearly inedible. Mine in particular had a watery consistency and was completely flavorless. My mother had to insist hers be cooked a little longer (she is shy and rarely, rarely one to send food back). Our waiter conveying the chef's judgmental attitude about our meat temperature preferences only made her feel worse. I am perfectly okay with steak having pink and some red inside, but this was way too rare. Honestly, Twigs, save the food superiority attitude for Reddit. Paying customers should not have to argue for their reasonable preferences to be accommodated. It's not like we had numerous dietary restrictions or asked for substitutions. Unless it can be explained to me why this was, I wouldn't return or recommend this place at all.
