A friend and I drove to Beiseker for lunch on Sunday to try the food at this wonderful little cafe. I had bacon and eggs and she had a veggie omelette. Both meals were delicious and the toasted homemade bread was incredible with the homemade strawberry jam. Will definitely go back.
We were travelling from Banff to Drumheller and needed a break. Arriving in the tiny village of Beiseker, we found this lovely little café in what is an old gas station. The café is filled with antiques etc and the whole place is rather quirky but the proprietress was welcoming and friendly so we really enjoyed our visit. The coffee was pretty good too.
Sometimes a funky looking little joint like this will be a pleasant surprise with really good food. This place, not so much. The handwritten menu offers breakfast all day but this day they had no bacon so about half of the items offered could not be served. Two in our party has the cauliflower cheese soup and I had the same soup with a chicken salad sandwich. Served without water or napkins the soup was curdled and very salty. The chicken salad had many bone fragments and several pieces of cartilage. The bread was very good. When I paid the soup and sandwich was $10. Each bowl of soup was also $10. I paid the $30 plus tax but only because it looks like the business is about to go broke and I wasn't looking for a fight. We all joked the rest of the day about how bad it was and I promised to write this review to warn others.
The breakfast was very slow in coming and also very greasy The atmosphere was great. I put down the slow service to the fact that we were a large party and I think nthat the owner was fairly new to the buiseness
