During our initial visit, we were greeted warmly by two new staff members who took great care of us and served us delicious food. However, when we attempted to return a few days later, we were turned away because it was too busy. On our next try, we encountered the same staff member who initially refused us entry but then called over a helpful young man with a beard to assist. He quickly seated us and engaged in friendly conversation, welcoming us back. Once again, we enjoyed a tasty meal at the restaurant.
The restaurant is too small and cannot handle the number of patrons. Although you can make a reservation when you arrive, the limited seating capacity causes long wait times. This is possibly the worst experience I have had at a Thyme restaurant. I hope I do not have to return. I was unable to get a table until 8:30pm despite arriving at 5:30pm, and by 9:30pm I was still waiting for my food.
I do not carry cash on me and because I paid before my meal I apologise for the lack of tip- But I think this is the best Premier Inn breakfast I’ve ever had. (I have eaten in over 10 different Premier Inn restaurants for breakfast) Roxana was very polite and she seated me without a wait. She kept an eye on my table to make sure she was available to take my order when I was ready and she let me know what additionals could be ordered from the kitchen (pancakes, crumpets, bagels etc). Food arrived swiftly (4-5 other tables occupied). The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, mushrooms weren’t sat in water or oil like I have experienced at other Premier Inns. Bacon cooked really well and the sausage was tasty (although rather small- but that’s not an issue when you can order more). The continental was at its normal standard with plenty of choice and well stocked. I also had some pancakes that were ordered through the waitress to the kitchen (they were perhaps freshly made) they came warm and were really fluffy and light- I find usually the premier Inn pancakes usually more dense and usually are found on the continental counter and then you have to ask for them to be heated (and then they are put in the microwave). The ones I had today had a much nicer texture! Roxana was nearby to offer assistance if needed. Overall a lovely breakfast and experience, much appreciated!
We ate breakfast here as we stayed at the hotel. We found the service chaotic especially as it was busy in the mornings. I think there were not enough staff. I also found the buffet to be disappointing. Things like croissants and other items would not be replenished for ages. Also people who wanted Quorn products were disappointed, as they had run out and no one knew when further supplies would come in. I like to think this is a glitch as normally I regard the Premier Inn breakfast very highly.
