Use your navigation to find the location. The ticket machine accepts both cash and cards, and a full day pass is only £4.75. There's a free toilet block and bike rentals available. After enjoying the Tissington Trail, it's easy to pass through the tunnel and arrive in Ashbourne, where you can find a cafe or pub to eat. The £4.75 fee is definitely worth it! We had a wonderful walk and then went to the George and Dragon pub (which is dog-friendly) for a fantastic post-walk meal.
There’s a payment and display machine that accepts both cash and contactless card payments. The area also includes a toilet block, picnic benches, and a bicycle rental service. There’s a small café or tuck shop, but unfortunately, it was closed the last time I visited, which was a shame. There aren’t many toilet facilities along the trail, so keep that in mind before heading out. You can find some lovely viewpoints, so be sure to bring a water bottle and a few sandwiches with you. Please take all your trash home or use the bins available in the parking lot; let's keep the Peak District beautiful.
This is an ideal spot to begin or take a break during your bike tour. Just a heads up—parking is limited, so keep that in mind. They offer restrooms and a few picnic tables. Also, watch out for the curious robin that likes to visit the tables!
In October 2019, I found direct parking conveniently located near the start of the Tissington Trail, right in the center of Ashbourne, just through the tunnel. There’s a free public restroom and a small café with seating options, as well as a bicycle rental service and snacks available. The parking facilities here are better than those in the city center, costing £4 for 4 hours. During the busy summer months, the nearby overflow parking lot can be quite useful, although it does close fairly early. The next parking area along the route is at Thorpe Junction, which is about 2.25 miles away, but be aware that it doesn’t have any facilities.
