L'authentique - Ardres

I recently at steak tare tare hear as I thought I’d try something authentically French. However the following day I started to feel very unwell with stomach cramps and diarrhoea that lasted for days. I’m not sure what caused this but just a warning...for anybody else that would like to try the French dish that your stomach may not thank you for it. It’s a real shame because I enjoyed the short visit whilst on my way back to the uk just passing through.

We try to visit Ardres a couple of times a year to buy some wine, visit a wonderful patisserie and enjoy lunch at this lovely restaurant. The atmosphere is very friendly it is obviously popular with locals as well as visitors. The owner speaks...good English and is very helpful with translation of the menu. I had the roast lamb which was delicious and my husband had the bavette steak which was cooked to perfection for his taste. As you would expect in France the wine was also really good! We look forward to our next visit.

As usual, excellent food, combining French classics with imaginative modern dishes. A main course of veal kidneys a l'ancienne was a reminder of the glories of traditional French cuisine, and starter of Spanish-themed tapas showed ingenuity and flair. Always a delight

We went with year old GCSE French and the staff were really helpful but also let us enjoy trying our French without making us feel stupid. We had a lovely lunch in a cosey friendly atmosphere and were not hurried out.

Un accueil correct, mais notre emplacement moyen, une banquette déchirée, un trou à l'endroit ou j'étais assise, une tache sur la nappe....Dommage car les lieux sont sympas. Mériterait d'être un peu rafraîchit!J'y retournerai plus pour un apéro tapas et un verre de vin.Une cuisine correct, les produits étaient frais mais pas cuisinés comme nous aimons.Cela reste un peu cher pour ce qui est servi!
