Colonial Coffee Shop - York

The food earns 4 stars primarily due to a small patch of mold on the crust of the sandwich bread. It was easy to remove, but still not very appealing. On the positive side, the service was outstanding and very friendly. The coffee shop and breakfast ambiance is lovely. I will definitely be returning.

I really enjoy going here for breakfast. The staff greets you as soon as you walk in, and they are very attentive. The food is served hot and flavorful, and you don't have to wait long for it.

Great service and a well-balanced menu with fresh ingredients make you feel right at home.

During my first visit, the waitress was quite curt and unfriendly. I assumed it was simply the result of a busy day and let it go. However, I did notice that she and some of the other staff were friendly with a few familiar customers, which led me to think that you need to be a regular to receive respectful treatment. On my second visit, I made the mistake of sitting at one of her tables again, and once more, we felt like we were inconveniencing her. When my friend accidentally spilled his coffee and tried to clean it up, another waitress helped him, but her demeanor only increased his embarrassment. To make matters worse, she stood a short distance away from our booth and rolled her eyes at a fellow employee, which thankfully my friend didn't see. The two individuals I believe to be the owners are very pleasant and welcoming, which makes it puzzling that the behavior of the waitstaff seems to go unnoticed and unaddressed. Perhaps the establishment is doing well enough that rudeness isn't affecting their customer base, but it's a shame.

The value for money is lacking. The food was unappetizing, and when ordering takeout, they don't even provide plastic utensils or napkins. The chipped beef was the worst I've ever had. I'm very disappointed, especially given that their prices are higher than most others.
