El Camino Mexican Kitchen - Wilmington

This restaurant offers a fantastic atmosphere and an impressive selection of tequilas. While the food isn't anything extraordinary, their guacamole is exceptional, so I recommend sticking with that. The ambiance and service are also very good. I enjoy coming here after work to try a new tequila each time and catch up with friends over beer and appetizers.

Despite the low expectations one might have for an East Coast restaurant claiming to serve Mexican food, this place still fell short. The service was good, which is a plus, but the chicken salad consisted of nothing more than pre-packaged lettuce, roasted peppers, and dry-rubbed chicken strips. The filet mignon fajitas were also lacking in flavor, much like the rice and beans that accompanied them. Overall, the food was extremely bland. I doubt this restaurant would last three months if it were located west of the Mississippi. I’ll give a star for the friendly staff and the atmosphere, but it seems many locals hold it in high regard. I left feeling unsatisfied and ended up grabbing a meal elsewhere.

This was our first visit, and we will certainly be coming back. We ordered one of their classic cocktails and a margarita, and both were fantastic. Our server, Michael, was excellent; I highly recommend him if you visit. I'm looking forward to trying more items from their menu on our future visits.

Food was good. I am sad the chili is no longer on the menu. It was delicious and my favorite.

Overall ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. Our service was very slow even though patio was full, the inside did not have many tables and there was lack of service to all inside tables. We ordered chips and salsa and never received them, the pork tacos were all fat. Drinks took well over 30 minutes after ordering to receive them.
