Contribuiți la feedbackMy family was here for dinner on Friday night to celebrate a birthday. Our service was good I’m not complaining about that. However, this restaurant is so dimly lit it is very difficult to peruse the menu. I was helping someone who had not been there and had not googled the menu first. And although I am familiar with the menu I had a very hard time. The music that is on serves no purpose whatsoever in a crowded restaurant where all you hear is the constant beat. Maybe earlier on it is necessary but the acoustics being what they are it is purely annoying. And in the end, a dish I have had before that I was really looking forward to was barely warm never mind hot.Not a restaurant that would get a hearty recommendation but it was very busy so my review doesn’t really matter anyway. Still, it leaves a bad taste about Cactus and there are a lot of them.
My family (4 including me) went to the Cactus at West Vancouver (Park Royal branch) this Thursday. We go there often for special occasions. It was my and my twin sister 's birthday dinner. The food and service were OK until we got the bill.We ordered one starter and 3 main dishes. The burger we ordered comes with a green salad/fries. The waiter asked, Do you want a green salad or fries with your burger? We chose a green salad. Another order was a fish taco. The waiter asked, Do you want fries or yam fries with your taco? So we said fries. We thought that fries COME with the fish taco at no extra charge. The waiter didn 't mention anything about the additional charge and we didn 't know. Also, we asked if there is any birthday cake available and the waiter said Do you want a lava cake? Do you want two of them? So we were like two would be great and the waiter didn 't mention anything about the extra charge for our birthday cakes. We thought it was complimentary as always. When we got the bill we asked that we always ordered a birthday cake with no charge and the waiter said It 's only for the New York cheesecake. It was a lava cake for my mom 's birthday a few months ago. Has the rule or policy about the birthday cake changed? If it has, we weren 't informed about it and the waiter is the one who mentioned lava cake. He made it sound like the birthday cake they offer is lava cake. If he mentioned that the New York cheesecake is free for birthday cake we would order a different cake if we knew we are going to pay for it. Also, we wouldn 't order two not to waste any.The money is not the issue here. We were not happy with how the waiter made them sound complimentary/free. We couldn 't even finish the fries and cakes because we were so full. If we knew that the fries and the cakes are extra charges we wouldn 't order to waste them. On top of that, the decaf coffee we ordered wasn 't fresh. It was not that hot either. We felt like we were fooled by the waiter and very unhappy with how the waiter responded when we asked about these issues.
Service was great and food was delicious! Happy hour has very good and affordable prices! Their new Brazilian drink is a must, is a mix of bacardi with kiwi, so delicious!
We took some out of town visitors for dinner at the Park Royal location of Cactus Club Cafe . It was a bit of a late dinner so the restaurant was full when we first came and asked for a table. They said it would be about 20-25 minutes wait for a table, took my phone number and told me I would get a text when our table was ready. Actually, our table was ready much sooner. I got a text message within about 10-15 minutes. To me, that was a sign that they work quite efficiently at the restaurant. I was quite pleased with that.I ordered the Vegetarian Raincoast Greens, my little girl had the Mini Burgers, Por Por (Grandma) had the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Prawns, and our guests had the Thai Green Curry. Our guests were suitably impressed with Cactus Club Cafe and we were happy with our meals as well.Mini Burgers: Our daughter first tried these last year and became hooked on them. She used to always order Chicken Tenders at Cactus Club Cafe; now she orders the Mini Burgers every time!Vegetarian Raincoast Greens: I am usually not a huge fan of salad but this dish has gotten to be my new favorite at Cactus Club Cafe. It’s perfect for when I want something tasty to fill my stomach but don’t feel like eating rice, bread, pasta, potatoes or any other carbohydrate heavy foods. Every time I've tried it the ingredients are fresh, crisp and tasty.Service: GoodParking: Plentiful and free!Location: This is my favorite location of Cactus Club Cafe. It's conveniently located in the Village at Park Royal so there are plenty of shops to visit before or after your meal, including two supermarkets on the south side of Park Royal, and one more supermarket across the street on the north side of Park Royal.
We went on Friday night. Food as always was great. To our surprise our waitress however completely ignored us throughout the meal. She made several mistakes with our orders, and when we asked her to correct them she didn’t apologize. She never brought water for us until we asked her. But she didn’t ask us how we wanted our waters and left quickly!! We also ordered a salad half way through our meal and she brought it when everyone’s food was finished. My friend asked for a box for that salad. She never brought a box!!! We then paid and she didn’t talk a word with us!!!! She had high heels, a midi black skirt, black top, and black eyes and hair. It was a celebratory dinner for us and she ruined it with her discriminatory attitude. She seemed to serve other tables very well, but she didn’t even talk to us.
