Lessiter's - Welwyn Hatfield

I was really disappointed when I visited the cafe to buy some cakes to take away, only to be told that they were all sold out! I don't know who is in charge of managing the stock, but I definitely won't be in a hurry to come back.

Lessiters is located on the main London road to either Knebworth or Welwyn, depending on which direction you are traveling. The restaurant has a car park on site and used to be a chocolate factory with a shop. Now, they have added an inside and outside tea room. The atmosphere is relaxing and the service is good. They offer a variety of hot and cold drinks, as well as cakes. Additionally, you can browse through the chocolate goodies in their store before or after your visit.

Lessiter's chocolate range is among the best I have ever tasted. The store and coffee area is charming, clean, bright, and airy. On sunny days, there are tables outside for customers to enjoy. It is the perfect place to savor a cup of coffee or tea along with a slice of their delectable Gluten Free cakes, biscuits, or croissants. I often meet up with friends there to catch up on our news. It feels like a luxury after months of being in lockdown. Don't forget to check out their Halloween chocolate range on display - it's a must-see!

This is one of those places I don’t want to tell people about. Gorgeous cakes, great coffee. There are only a few, well spaced tables and in fine weather there are a few tables outside. They only do cakes and drinks. And the cafe area is part of the very tempting shop.

First visit, and I was very disappointed. The chocolate torte was dry, and it was not a torte, it was a sponge cake. When I raised this with the Manager, I was told that it was supposed to be a dry cake (I’m not sure that’s a thing! The cake was reluctantly swapped, as a “gesture of goodwill” which I thought was a poor response. Sadly my replacement lemon drizzle cake was also dry and horrible. As was my friends carrot cake. Drinks weren’t all that either. Overpriced and won’t be visiting again.
