We had a nice meal. The cauliflower/Zucchini appetizer was very good, and much lighter than I expected. I loved the potato pancake/ratatouille combo and the spinach gnocchi was beautiful, but a bit bland. The apple strudel was good, but a little disappointing — very little apple-y taste on it. Overall a good meal. We sat in the bar and I would ask for the back room next time – it seemed calmer.
This place is a jewel! Czech-Eastern Euro. Kitchen is a refreshing addition to the DC dining scene. Excellent food — simple and tasty. We had Pierogis, roasted duck with red cabbage, apple strudel for dessert. Interesting wine/alcohol selections (the Graswodka....you will never order Grey Goose again). Great service from a friendly staff. Cosy and unpredictable – felt like we entered a small corner café somewhere in Prague.
WAREN I have checked in which a 10% discount offered for brunch or lunch and they refused to honour it. This is the first time I ran into a business that would not honor a check in the offer on Yelp. FOOD: Great. Terrible skip this restaurant! Farmers Omelet $13 potatoes, Ham, mushrooms, pepper, tomatoes, onion, toast spinach roasted tomatoes Omelet $13 Egg White Omelet, spinach, roasted tomatoes, Toast Potato Pancake $4 Potato Pancake had a gummy texture, I'm not even sure it was potato? BOTH Omeletts had the overcooked egg crusts that tasted like a plastic wrap. It comes with toast, but it is literally on the Omelet, it is no more toast, it comes as soggy bread! SERVICE: What service? The order was discarded, the server was not seen until I had to track it to get the check. Maybe you'll check us out if we need something after the food was thrown off? We both didn't want to drink so rough bread, but we could never get the attention of our server to help us. Also desired pepper (there is no salt/peffer on the table) and more coffee. No service again.
We visited this restaurant on a whim after going to the movies at Atlantic Plumbing, and it was decent. Note that the location is in something of a No Man's Land near LeDroit Park. Had the fried cheese, bratwurst trio, and beef goulash. Unfortunately, the beef was a bit dry, but the sauce and bread dumplings were authentically Czech. We also appreciated that the drinks were economical.
