Food is not good at all. We were the only people in there, and the service was poor. We won't be back.
This has been one of my favorite restaurants for over 10 years! The food is always delicious and fresh, the portions are very generous, and the service is always friendly. Plus, they have my favorite salsa and chips!
Our family had been going to Jose’s Mexican Cantina for over 20 years. When pulling up to Jose’s Mexican Cantina we were surprised the restaurant name was changed to Cinco De Mayo. We hungry for Mexican food and decided to give the new restaurant a try. When entering the restaurant, the décor had not been changed at all and everything was dusty and dingy. The benches also had ripped torn vinyl, but we continued in and was sat down. Not sure why we didn’t just turn around and leave. The chips and salsa were promptly placed on the table and we ordered our normal Chicken Chimichanga and Shrimp and Steak Fajitas. While waiting for our entrees we ate the chips and salsa, the salsa was thin and flavorless, so disappointing. The Chicken Chimichanga and Shrimp and Steak Fajitas were served shortly thereafter. My husband has a strong Dislike of Curry and said to me do you smell Curry? I tasted one the shrimp and said yes, the Fajitas have a curry taste. The Chicken Chimichanga was beef not chicken. But, I did not tell the waiter of the error, and just ate the Beef Chimichanga. The Beef Chimichanga was not flavorful, but eatable. My husband finally got the waiters attention, and told him the Fajitas tasted like curry. The waiter denied curry seasoning was used in the Fajitas. My husband said he didn’t want the Fajitas and wanted nothing to replace them. Waiter left and returned indicating there was no manager available and he could not remove the charge for the Fajitas. The waiter then removed the Fajitas and the Fajitas’ side dishes… The waiter returned a few minutes later and asked if there was anything else we needed, I said politely the only thing we need is to have the Fajitas charge removed from our bill. He just turned and left. I shared my Beef Chimichanga with my husband and we then requested our bill. The waiter provided the bill, and surprisingly the Shrimp and Steak Fajitas charge was removed. We paid the bill gave the waiter a tip and left. So disappointed, we will not be returning to Cinco De Mayo, Warren New Jersey. We do not recommend the restaurant.
Good food at a reasonable price. Please note that the name has changed to Cinco DE Mayo Mayan Cuisine
