Delicious!<br/ The Lady doesn't speak a word of English but food is the international language that brings people together.<br/ I just smile, call her aunty and point to what I want.<br/ It helps to read the menu stuck on the window before you go in so you know what you want instead of standing in the shop like trying to order a Macca burger.. and wasting her time.<br/ Definitely be back.. food delicious and priced very reasonable.<br/
This place from the outside looks like a dive..but go inside and it's like an assault on the senses. Many different types of Burmese curries to chose from. The chicken and potato curry was amazing as were the vegetable Bhaji. Pricing was good $10 for a big container of take away. No issue with any rude owner, in fact quite the opposite. I was treated very well that I look forward to going back to try another curry.
This place, from the outside, is terrifying. It looks old and worn and lots of food at room temperature, which in a commercial setting is normally a HUGE no no. But, panic not.The food is delicious, the chicken biryani exquisite, the beef curry mild but full of flavour. I prefer to order mild curries and add my own heat, and this place sells the most awesome beef belachan HOME MADE and not a commercial mix, which is beyond anything I can recommend.Order the samosas, the fried prawn veggie fritters, the beef and lamb curries (I haven't tried the other ones yet) and keep an eye out for weird nibble things which are cheap and always worth a go.Don't let the drab and unappealing exterior (and interior, for that matter) fool you. The lady who runs the place and does the cooking is always grumpy but if you smile and are polite she turns into a happy and pleasant hostess (although her english is very limited).Be brave, and you will be rewarded.
Delicious home cooked meals and her curries are really spicy and yes it rests beneath a pool of spiced and aromatic oil ; However that is exactly what makes it authentic and unaltered. Perfect for lunch time take away as I work in the vicinity. I finally found someone who actually knows how to cook rice to perfection, yes it is just rice, but so many restaurants nowadays serve rice al dente. The starchier the rice the better it is for soaking up all the goodness of the gravy. The store is located next to the wholesale grocers and I had not noticed it up till today and decided to try it out. I got two curries chicken and fish with rice and freshly made onion fritters. She was super liberal with the chilli topping and although she appears lukewarm at first, once I initiated a conversation, she was really friendly and was chatting away. I can't imagine cooking all these dishes, prepping, cleaning and serving all at the same time and that too on her own! Cut the poor lady some slack and just enjoy her honestly food :
