Backfins Crab House - Wake Forest

Awesome!! Well seasoned steamed crab legs and shrimp. Seemed so much healthier than the seafood boil bags from other restaurants. Didn't have all that heavy oil and still VERY tasty. Great job!!! Service was wonderful. They were about to close but willing to add our orders for to go as well. Loved it!!

On a Friday night, we decided to accept the usual wait to enjoy dinner and were pleasantly surprised to be immediately seated at 7pm. Yay! We had the grilled oysters(8) appetizer, which was yummy and filling. My partner had the snow crab with hush puppies and I had the crab cake with onion rings. Both were scrumptious. Our server was personable and attentive. We have never been disappointed at Backfins. Go and enjoy. And leave your tuxedo at home.

The food was great. The service not so much. Had to ask multiple times for napkins. Had to ask for the salad 2x because she didn't get it the 1st time. Almost canceled the order after waiting 20 minutes even tho the order had only been placed with the kitchen 11 minutes ago per the manager. Maybe she was a new server.

I have been looking for steamed blue crab in NC for a while. My husband is a Maryland boy and it has to be blue crab, steamed, with old bay(or similar). He gave it 4.5 stars but only because there was no Natty Boh. Very high praise, trust me. Our friends had the Crab cakes and creamy crab soup. They said they were excellent. And the hush puppies were just perfect. But as others have pointed out, they don't always have blue crab so you do have to call and prepay.
