Hina Rae’s Cafe Waimea

Hina Rae's is somewhat difficult to locate since it lacks a street-facing sign. However, it's a hidden gem for visitors, offering something for everyone. We shared a buttery and delicious waffle, a fresh and spicy order of ahi poke, and a tasty açaí bowl that was well-blended, though the one we chose might not have been as unique as some of the other options on the menu. My picky family found something to enjoy here. I would definitely recommend it!

Fantastic breakfast spot—perfect for when you're craving something delicious without feeling overly stuffed. The breakfast sandwich with spam was superb, although the iced coffee could have been stronger. The interior is quite cozy, so just a little heads up on that!

This delightful little café has an impressive selection of menu items, and the açaí bowls were truly tasty. Unfortunately, we weren't able to eat inside due to COVID restrictions. The café is located in a plaza that also includes other dining options, a restroom, and a grocery store, making it a convenient stop on our journey to the volcano. The prices are fair, and the portion sizes are plentiful. The kids absolutely loved it!

I stumbled upon this restaurant while I was hungry and heading to Wai'pio Valley, and I was genuinely impressed by the flavor of the Get In My Belly bowl. The name of the dish perfectly captures your reaction—you'll definitely want to indulge in it! The portion size was generous, and the pork belly was both delicious and juicy. It's worth noting that during my visit in December 2021, they were only offering takeout due to Covid-19.

Not all menu items are available; for example, I attempted to order the Yo Oats, but they weren't being served. However, the staff is extremely friendly. Just be aware that service is made to order, so you might have to wait outside for a little while in the sun, as there are no benches or shaded areas to sit.
