The tables on the quayside outside were mainly taken, so we ate in. Inside, it is a scruffy old place like an old port cellar spacious with granite arched walls, high ceiling, and old wooden furniture. The service was excellent and the food authentic and tasty. We started with ham and melon and went on to share a seafood and rice stew. It was all delicious, and decent value.
Great food, super location and professional service. This is situated in a super location for watching the world go by, the water traffic and the life of Porto around you. The food was well presented with prompt and efficient service. We ordered four dishes which was way too much for us. The potatoes were awesome as was the ox....... overall a great meal.
I am glad I went to this restaurant on the bank of Douro without reading the reviews first. Had grilled fish on a skewer, which was delicious and done just right, and a caipirinha. The service was on the hesitant side, which found irritating until I was able to relax to the rhythm around me, the llving rhythm of Douro, Portugal and a beautiful summer night.
Dom Rodizio Restaurant across the Douro River from Porto, Portugal is located on the promenade that is full of bars, cafes and restaurants in the Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, Portugal . This was not the best choice. Snarly waiter who preferred not to have customers on the hot and sunny Saturday evening. You are charged for each piece of bread (this was day old and stale) and each pad of butter. Who knew? Sangria was tasteless and overpriced. We split a tomato and mozzarella salad that was very disappointing. The salad had a few tasteless tomatoes and only 4 tiny balls of mozzarella. We both had grilled fish kebabs. 3 pieces of fish (size of a quarter}, overly grilled and tough. The skewers were mostly onion, peppers and tomatoes. Not enough fish for the high price. Only bad meal we had throughout Portugal. We would never come back. Bad service, low quality food and poor cooking skills while being overcharged. Worst choice we’ve made in the last several weeks in Portugal.
