We stopped here for lunch and were very pleased. Delicious burgers and fries - good quality ingredients, prices were great, and staff were wonderful. TV's in lounge area if you want to watch sports. Will definitely come back.
Had dinner here on a Saturday night. The restaurant was celebrating its first anniversary and some great specials going. It was our first visit, but we're not sure why we waited a year to go, and we will definitely be back. The space inside is great. There are lots of different seating options - patio, bar, dining room - and the décor is really nice. Lots of dark wood and large TVs, but so much nicer than a "sports bar". The staff were just fantastic. We interacted with a number of them, and they managed to be both friendly and professional, checking back often (but not too often) to offer touches such as fresh ground pepper, side places to share our appy and a container of ice to set the small carafe of white wine in to keep it chilled. The food was excellent. The menu is nicely varied, offering casual plates such as sandwiches and wings, but also some nice mains such steak and seafood. I had the seafood pasta, which was a generous portion of linguine with seared scallops and prawns, and my husband had the surf and turf, with a NY striploin steak (cooked perfectly) and prawns. We were both impressed with our meals, and particularly that the prawns were done to perfection; most places overcook them. Everything we had was fresh and nicely prepared, and we felt the prices were very reasonable for the quality received. A good option on 4th Avenue that we would definitely recommend.
We went to Roland's for Sunday brunch. There had been a power cut in Kits so the places that were open seemed busier than usual. This wasn't our first choice, but the queue was shorter.Given how busy they were we got served quite quickly and the food, when it arrived was quite nice. What let it down was the appalling behaviour of the waitress who served us. As I was giving her my order I corrected myself, because I realised I'd made a mistake and her response was to tut at me and roll her eyes! She then brought us two mugs of coffee along with the tiniest smidgin of milk, so I called her back and asked if we could have a little more. Her response was to tut at me again. Finally, when our side helping of toast came, it had the tiniest scraping of butter on, so I asked if we could have some extra butter. Quite abruptly she informed me that it was already buttered and walked off. The toast was left - it was too dry to eat and I'm not really a peanut butter and jam fan - I just wanted some butter. The really sad thing about this is that the other wait staff seemed to be handling the pressure of a busy Sunday morning really well and as I said, the food was quite good, but I really don't appreciate being treated as an inconvenience, not when I'm a paying customer!
We lived in Vancouver for over ten years and used to frequent hella kitchen. On a trip back we were surprised to find that the restaurant was now under a different name but have it a go anyways. We went on a Sunday in the early afternoon. It took a very long time for our food to arrive, particularly as we both ordered off the brunch menu and it wasn't that busy. The food was edible but lacked any flavour and had clearly been slapped together haphazardly. Won't be going back.
