MARKET by Jean-Georges - Vancouver

Admittedly, I expected more. Having been at Jean-Georges' NYC flagship restaurant, this wasn't nearly the culinary experience. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, our bartender, Tim, was awesome, but the table service and all around perfection of the experience didn't mirror NYC in the least. Granted, the bill at the end of the night was 1/3rd the cost, but I had a higher expectation, maybe unrealistic. Not saying don't go there, just don't go there expecting Jean-Georges' NYC location type experience. So, does this restaurant deserve 3 out of 5, no, but there's no option for a 3.5.

We were equally impressed by the dinner menu as we were the breakfast the next morning. We were here for business, so meals were quick and we had tonnes to accomplish. I ordered the crispy tofu entree, with grilled asparagus and my friend had the chicken. Both great choices. For breakfast, the Chinese-styled omelette with soy sauce and the breakfast potatoes were perfectly cooked, finely proportioned and just delightful. My friend's congee was something she talked about for a month. We'll be back, Market! Excellent experience.

My halibut was excellent as was my husband's meal. Service was excellent. We were staying in the hotel so it was very convenient.

Frist they have great eggs and sausage. They also have the best maple syrup on the Pacific. Third the tea is best in Canada. Last they have wonderful service.

This restaurant is located within the hotel. We enjoyed our dinner and it is a very healthy. If you are looking for a more flavorful feel of Calgary I would choose another restaurant which are within walking distance.
