Basically if you don 't speak Mandarin, don 't expect any service. We were discriminated against and treated with disrespect the owner (lady) and 1 of the 2 other servers were incredibly rude. The owner did not speak a lick of English and the 2 other servers spoke just enough to get by. I called in to make a reservation I told the gentleman on the phone: number in our party and 6pm, he said OK and hung up. No name or phone number taken. We arrived and luckily there was a table for us. We took some time to look at the menu. Everything is priced slightly higher than we expected. We asked 1 of the servers for recommendations. He had to go to the boss lady to ask about each question we had and basically couldn 't recommend anything (because of language barrier and miscommunication). We ordered lamb soup noodles (9.99), pork chive dumplings (12 for 9.99), and beef lamb crepe (9.99) the server said this would not be enough for 3 adults. We were also told beef lamb crepe is size of a small plate. We changed this dish to beef pancake (5.99). Beef pancake arrived about 15 minutes later. It was quite small, and we noticed dishes at other tables had small portions as well for their price point, except a big claypot (apparently their specialty) and a crab dish. We asked each one of them for hot water over a 5 minute period. First guy forgot. Second guy decided to set a table before serving his guests us and another table waiting for tea, served tea to the other table, and still forgot our water. Finally, the owner lady looked at us when we asked, waved her arm at us as if to say wait , then tended to guests coming in the front door. When we were obviously unhappy, she spoke in Mandarin to one of the servers to ask us if there was a problem. I responded yes, that she was being rude. He said How come? I explained and his response was Do you know how busy we are? Do you think it 's easy? I said, No, it 's not easy, but you need to address your customers a little better. There are 3 servers in a restaurant of about 15 tables of varying sizes (2 10 ppl). Are you serious????? You should not be working in the restaurant industry. Shandong had 2 ppl working the restaurant COMPLETELY full with lineups at the door and were fabulous!!! There are PLENTY of restaurants out there short staffed and those servers don 't complain about working their butts off. You are in VANCOUVER, CANADA. If you don 't want business from non Mandarin speaking people, pls just put a sign at the front door. Nobody deserves to walk in as a customer and be treated like that. We paid for the beef pancake and left. You can be sure we WON 'T be back.
Poe's Tavern is one of my favorite beach placesTo say that I'm obsessed with the buffalo shrimp tacos is a huge understatement.
Their burgers are good but please don't get delivery. My father ordered one night and his order was wrong twice and the meat undercooked based on the
Enjoyed the Sullivan's Island SC location so thought I'd give this one a shot when I was in the area.
