I have eaten at this restaurant three times now and the quality of the food varies greatly. Sometimes the dahl is delicious, but today it was watery and unappetizing. The naan bread is usually soft, but today it was tough and difficult to eat. The bathroom has no hot water and is very dark and dirty. Unfortunately, the overall cleanliness of the restaurant has declined, and I am concerned about the conditions of the kitchen and food storage. It is unacceptable that the restaurant is not kept clean, even if it is an old building. I am hesitant to imagine what the kitchen and food storage areas must be like.
We visited on a day that wasn't very crowded, which was nice because we could enjoy the intimate seating. The curries were delicious and the menu had good options for those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would eat here again. They offer options for those with dietary restrictions. I suggest trying the papadum as a substitute.
The food was good. I give it only 3 starts because they use single-use plastic which is terrible for the environment and unnecessary. In this day and age, restaurants should really strive to prevent the destruction of our already very damaged earth.
Stopped in to try this based on reviews, so glad we did, we substituted the Lamb Rogan for the butter chicken in their dinner for two. So nice you can experiment and change out the main dishes. We also had a Fish Pakora as an added appetizer. All the food was amazing, Fish Pakora is probably the best we have ever had.Staff are lovely, attentive and food is served quickly and steaming hot!We will be back next time we are in Vancouver for sure.
