Contribuiți la feedbackBaked Pork Chop Spaghetti (Special Version, $9.75): 4/5 This dish featured a crispy pork chop atop spaghetti with tomato sauce. The pork chop was thin and breaded, resembling a schnitzel or Japanese katsu. While tasty, I wished there was more meat. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly, not too mushy. The tomato sauce was flavorful without being watery, coating the noodles and pork chop nicely. Baked Portuguese Chicken with Rice (Special Version, $9.75): 3/5 This dish included chicken and taro in a yellow sauce. I expected the rice to be baked with the chicken, but they were served separately. The chicken was moist and tender, and the sauce had a fragrant ginger and possibly coconut aroma. However, I found the dish to be lacking in seasoning and overall flavor.
During my walks around Vancouver's Chinatown, I failed to notice this restaurant. However, I discovered it while searching for breakfast options near my hotel on Google. I appreciated that it opened at 7:30am, which was perfect for me.
I have been a loyal patron of Goldstone since it first opened, and I absolutely adore the place. The bakery items are top-notch, with my personal favorites being the cocktail buns and egg tarts. The black pepper steak noodle is unmatched in town and rivals those in Hong Kong, featuring crispy fried noodles drenched in a savory black pepper sauce with a hearty portion of beef. The hor fun noodles with black bean, green pepper, and beef are also a standout dish. While I have yet to sample the unique Hong Kong style western dishes offered, they are a hit with the Hong Kong clientele. The owner, hailing from Macao, is a humble and hardworking immigrant success story who may be retiring soon, so the exquisite cuisine may not be available for long. The decor is simple and neat, the service is quick and efficient, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting, with many regulars relishing the consistently delicious food at reasonable prices. This Chinatown gem is one that I hold dear and will continue to cherish.
This restaurant serves the best egg tarts, cocktail buns, and dinner buns in the city. The Hong Kong style tea is also excellent. The egg tarts taste just like they did when I was a kid, with a bright dark yellow orange filling and a flaky tender crust. Make sure to arrive early as they sell out of cocktail buns by 3pm. The buns are always fresh, and their cocktail buns are filled from end to end. I love the Baked Pork Chop with fried rice and the Shredded Chicken with Spaghetti, both delicious dishes. I recently tried the Club Macaroni with chicken, BBQ pork, beef, peas, and a fried egg. I added some Spam to the soup and enjoyed some French Toast with peanut butter on the side. The French toast was crispy and not greasy, a great deal for $4. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lively, with the sounds of the kitchen staff cooking and the smell of freshly baked goods. Parking is available at Chinatown Plaza across the street, and there is free wifi. The restaurant is always busy, so arrive early to secure a seat.
Located in Chinatown, this restaurant only accepts cash. I tried the Baked Pork Chop on Rice and it was delicious. A perfect comfort food option. I definitely plan to return to try more dishes.
