Contribuiți la feedbackThe food lacked flavor overall, except for the Mermaid dish, which stood out. The dishes we tried were bland, dry, and the meat was overcooked. However, the service was excellent.
I am heading to Bao. Who wouldn't enjoy a soft and fluffy Bao, filled with flavorful ingredients?! I am loving the tessin, which combines sweet pork, banana ketchup, Slav, and a golden egg yolk from a fried egg. Perfect! I definitely recommend trying the juicy braided pig belly Bao. Do I need to say more? Also, don't miss out on the BRB with crispy lemongrass chicken, lemon butter sriracha, and Thai Ranch. And of course, adding some garlic fries is always a good choice. I will definitely be going back!
My family lives just 2 blocks away from Bar Down in Olympic Village and we chose to order delivery. Unfortunately, when our dinner arrived, we were disappointed to find that it was not warm. While the food tasted good, it didn't quite meet our expectations. The grilled vegetables had a basic BBQ flavor, but they were overcooked and not cooked thoroughly.
I went to the Gastown place a long time ago, and I don't remember being very impressed. I thought I would give the Olympic Village site an attempt as I was in the area and I saw that they had 20% discount prices. I ordered the following: Luau Plate OK. Looks really good, but the crispy pig belly was overcooked and dry. Rice was too hard, maybe undercooked. Bao Chicka Bao Bao OK. Love the name, but nothing too much about the flavors. 2 Worlds Collide Good. The Hoisin Purple helps to give it more taste. Big Bang! Good. Lechon sauce helps him taste. Miso grilled chicken okay. It was pretty bland. I don't know ****. For all Baos, I didn't really like the rolls. They were usually too thick to wrap the blows and a little too tight. The sauces they use for rice and bases make a world of difference, so ask for extra where possible. Since I have the choice, there is not much to cost. He was friendly, and the food was ready in about 10 minutes. Takeout is currently 20% discount on the regular prices so much better to order directly instead of using a delivery app. Overall it was OK. Maybe you just try it again from comfort and location.
Maybe there are new owners but Wine Wednesday was no longer available. We tried the Sangria and sadly, once was enough! Also the food quality seems to have dropped in the happy hour offerings. Maybe we are just not into street food anymore as the...dishes seem muddled with no outstanding flavours.
