AnnaLena - Vancouver

Thank you for the culinary escapade last night, AnnaLena. My partner and I have added a new favourite to our 'best of ' list in Vancouver. Highly recommend the tasting menu fried chicken, mussels, and beef bavette were rather (and I don 't use this term lightly) mind blowing. Special thanks to Sarah for the impeccable, friendly service. We can 't wait to be back!

We had dinner here on my birthday last week and I really had a great time.The setting was perfect for me and the food was almost excellent in my humble opinion. We started with the squid, followed by the bread(not to be missed), then the mussels. We also had the halibut and the pork/boar belly. The flavours were complex but blends very well. The seafood we tried were exceptional although I find the squid a bit less on portion for the price. I would try the beef next time and perhaps the chicken.We booked for 5 pm seating and I was just a little "surprised" that they have to really stick to a 5 pm opening when a lot of us were already waiting outside. What I'm trying to say is, it won't hurt to open a few minutes early-very minor. The staff were very friendly, knowledgable, pleasant and attentive. They get the 5 stars for me.The decor is not to my liking, not a fun of black seats and tables, again, very minor.Overall experience was worth my money and time and would recommend to friends and visitors.

Our family went here for a special occasion dinner. The food was generally very good.We had:Pate - Good. Pickled mustards seeds cut through the richness of the pate. Bread - Very good. The server mentioned it is very popular, and for good reason. Although a not a lot of flavor on its own, it makes a great accompaniement to any sauce or gravy ordered - it's soft inside, crispy and light on the outside. Who could think bread could be so memorable! Chicken - Good. Nice crispy chicken morsels. Didn't really like the pickled radish though.Pork - Very Good. Nicely prepared pork belly. Liked the mustard spaetzle too.Beef - Good. Nothing outstanding, but still a good dish.Complimentary chocolate cupcakes - my kids loved these!Service was good. The server knew her wines, and selected good white wines to pair with the food.Space is clean and very open. My kids particularly liked the use of Disney and Lego toys as part of the decor.Plenty of street parking, and if you're lucky, free residential parking available.Overall, a very nice solid meal. None of the dishes were unique or outstanding in any way, but sometimes you want something a little more straightfoward and less fussy. I would recommend trying at least once.

We have had the brunch before and were satisfied. After reading more reviews, we decided to try the dinner menuThe eclectic menu is somewhat underwhelming. There wasn't a dish that stood out with any memorable flavour, taste or presentation. We tried 4 different items ranging from oysters, chickpeas, pork, and the halibut. Overall price point seems high for what is presented. The room is clean, modern set up, great service.
