Angel Cafe - Vancouver

If you are just looking for cheap okay food with minimum service, this is the place to go... just don't set your expectation too high or you will be disappointed.

This eatery has thai, cantonese, crusty rice dishes, and more. we went with friends that are familiar with the foods, speak the language. the food they ordered was great. we had a beef with chinese broccoli, beef with rice hot pot, thai chicken and soup. all good.

Despite it’s weekend, I woke up pretty early today. My friend suggested to eat breakfast at the “Angel Café” at Fraser Street. The place was quite busy considering the fact that it was Saturday before 9 am. I realized pretty fast that this restaurant was focussing on Chinese customers: Daily Specials were written in Chinese only; and I was the only non-Asian customer at that time. The selection for breakfast was quite limited; nothing was really appealing to me. Eventually, we decided to order an Italian Omelette (“Tomato Sauce, Cheese, Ham”), a Mushroom Omelette and both with French Toast and in combination with Fried Noodle with Soy Sauce. The omelettes came first. Despite we ordered different omelettes, both looked almost the same. I had the Italian Omelette and was not impressed: The Omelette was not hot; the cheese didn’t even start melting. The taste was also not great; none of the ingredients distributed really to the taste. The French Toast was also not great; I certainly ate already much better ones. And also the Fried Noodles were disappointing: They were almost tasteless and almost cold. My friend, who suggested going there, was disappointed too. I cannot recommend that place at all; one can get a better breakfast for a lower price at other restaurants.

Service used to be terrible. I actually stopped going for a couple of years because of one of the waitresses there. Then one day I literally had no choice and had to go there with my daughters early in the morning and discovered that waitress had quit. Since then i had gone back a couple of times. Food is good for the price. Service is better. Breakfast is good bang for the buck.

Good prices for HK style breakfasts. Fair size portions for the price. They have western and Chinese items on the menu, The combos incl. coffee are good value. Service seems a little friendlier for Chinese speaking customers.
