An authentic Indian restaurant with super friendly staff and fast service. eating was good and cheap.
The personal is about what is gluten-free and what is not. like most Indian curries are akbars gluten-free. However, their paprika, which are produced with peach meal, were unfortunately boiled in the same oil as some of their gluten-containing products, i.e. not keliac safe. But...their curries are delicious, and this family-run restaurant is definitely worth a stop when they have a demand for Indian food. my daughter, and I'm celiac, and I didn't have any problems to eat here.
My first visit to akbar’s on broadway and what a surprise! excellent eating, great service and not crowded we have really timed it. the Naan-Brot was excellently light, hot, so fresh it folds over the fingers. the young had butter huhn their. darlings, lamb garam masala was my choice perfect, rich, medium flavor suitable for any taste. they add seasoned if they want, but test it. a touch on the side lets them know. a try really worth it.
We've been on the road for two months traveling through the United States and often good ethnic food is hard to find. Landing in Vancouver we vowed to seek it out and Akbar's was our choice. We were not disappointed. We had the combo appetizer...plate which honestly was enough food to feed the two of us, but we held a bit of appetite aside to do justice to Lamb Vindaloo. Succulent pieces of perfectly cooked lamb in a rich sauce that you could sop up with buttery naan. Really, how much better than that does it get?
