Since we arrived, I wanted to leave: the welcome from the waiters was not the most pleasant and the heat inside the place was unbearable, and even so they did not want to turn on the air conditioning for some reason that we never found out. They say that they are also hot, okay, but it is a restaurant and you have to give the best possible service and, furthermore, more reasons to put the air on. We were a large group of almost 60 people who had reserved for a long time but it seemed that we had arrived unexpectedly. As for the food, it was nothing special, enough. But the menus for people with celiac disease and vegetarians were not taken into account despite having notified them in advance. They served them makeshift dishes, offering fish to a vegetarian and serving a croquette *empanada* to a gluten intolerant person. Truly incredible that water was taken as a drink like a soft drink or a beer and that there was not a measly bread on the table. Personally my jaw dropped with the dessert that was served to us on a paper plate that was supposed to be cake, unrecognizable because it looked like it had been thrown from a third floor. Reading the responses to the reviews of the other members of the group, the lack of professionalism shines through. They call us brats but you just have to see how they answer. They complain that we were half an hour late but even so the waiting time between dishes could not have been longer, even though they had more time to prepare them, they take a picture. It was a relief to leave the premises and find a lower temperature even on a hot and sunny day in Fuerteventura in the middle of August. I took a group of 20 people and we ha Atheneum most amazing time ever and had the most amazing food! It’s a must visit if you’re im the area !!!
On a recent golfing trip to the area, six of us had the pleasure of dining twice at El Toril. Not only was the food first class, the hospitality and warmth of welcome by Head Chef Javier and his mother Paloma were second to none. The culinary highlights of the evenings were suckling pig, baked lamb and sausages made by Javier's uncle. We communicated to Javier and Paloma using Google translate as our Spanish is very limited and I cannot remember laughing so much over dinner! A great find and I hope to re-visit some day.
What a fantastic restaurant with the most amazing food and service. It has a lovely family feel and they really look after you including giving us lifts back to Retamares. The most delicious tapas as well as steak, lamb and suckling pig. A truly memorable experience.
