Contribuiți la feedbackKitchen in the Desert is a unique dining experience in Twentynine Palms. This is a very popular venue with visitors to the Joshua Tree National Park and locals. Make a reservation as early as possible if you wish to dine here. Most of the seating is outdoors, the lighting is dim so it’s not unusual to see people trying to read the menu with the light on their cell phones. The menu is limited but focused on delectable dishes. In the cooler months plan to dress for evening cold temperatures. Take time to walk around the grounds to see murals about Twentynine Palms and some of our history. The staff is friendly and quick with suggestions about the options on the menu. The restaurant is located on a side street off Highway 62. You will be glad you took time to discover it.
Second time eating here. As a date night spot in 29palms, this place is great. Guys, take your wife here, sit her under a heat lamp outside and wrap her in one of the blankets they provide. They like that stuff for some reason. Then you get yourself a cocktail or two and warm up how your grand pappy used to. Food is a little pricey, but nothing lacks for flavor. The chicken sandwich is great.
Lovely, spicy, not the run of the mill restaurant. Mostly outdoor seating, with heaters and low lighting. We loved the Brussels sprouts dressed with shallots, walnuts, goat cheese and a sprinkle of chili flakes. The jerk chicken was amazing, tender and full of flavor. The Doubles was surprisingly delicious and filling, a savory donut/fry bread with chickpeas and a lively spicy sauce. The slow cooked greens were a perfect compliment.
Kitchen in the Desert is a wonderful place right in the heart of 29 Palms. The food is great, the drinks are great, but the atmosphere is what will wow you. We went at night on a full moon, and the weather was perfect.
Only giving the second star for the chicken sandwich. This restaurant has a lot of issues. The service is rude, the seating almost guarantees getting blinded by the sunlight, and the menu is odd. While the chicken sandwich was well made, there was nothing complimentary to eat it with. Maybe some people like roasted vegetables or soba noodles with their fried chicken sandwich or burger, but to simply not have something as basic as fries or onion rings is odd. We had a reservation and were treated like a burden or something. The place was half full. We would have gladly stayed and ordered multiple cocktails, but the attitude of the server and hostess put us off. The burger was mediocre: would not recommend.
