Buddy's Pizza - Troy

Buddy's has always been a favorite pizza spot for me and my family. The home of the Detroit style pizza. However, what truly separated this evening from all the other times we've gone was the exceptional service we received from the server, Jarrod.He was prompt to our table from the start, stopped by frequently to make sure we were good and was extremely polite throughout. The kicker, we forgot our leftovers at the table on our way out and Jarrod came running out (in the rain! to bring it to us. He really went the extra mile!Hold on to this guy, Buddy's!

Buddy's pizza is always good. My first time at this location and was impressed. Our waiter was very nice and stayed on top of everything like a boss ?

I was disappointed to find the entire kitchen staff outside smoking for 7 minutes before picking up my order. They also threw their cigarette butts in the parking lot and on the sidewalk. When I went inside to pick up my order at the designated time, I had to wait an additional 15 minutes. The service was slow, despite the restaurant not being very busy. Thankfully, the girl at the pickup counter was polite and helpful.

I enjoyed my coffee with the pizza on a Sunday morning, but they also offer beer from a local brewery. There are several TVs inside for watching sports, although during our visit, there wasn't a big crowd since the Lions had already won their game on Thursday. The server (who may have also been the manager) was friendly and happy to chat with us about Buddy's and anything else we wanted to talk about. Overall, we left the restaurant feeling happy and very satisfied.

I had never tried Detroit style pizza before, but it was pretty good. It seemed to have a thicker crust and sauce, like a mix between New York and Chicago styles. The wings were also saucy and tasty. I tried the Detroit style pepperoni pizza. It seems to be a chain restaurant, so you can expect a consistent level of quality. I would definitely go back. It wasn't too crowded during lunch, but I'm sure it gets busier during dinner and game nights.
